The short version
This site sets no cookies at all unless you accept analytics. Decline, or simply ignore the banner, and nothing is set and no request leaves for anyone else's server. Declining costs you no functionality, because nothing here depends on being measured.
What a cookie is, and what we use instead
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on every later request. Because it travels with requests, it can be used to recognise you across pages and, in some designs, across sites.
Your answer to the analytics banner is not stored in a cookie. It is kept in your browser's local storage, which stays in your browser and is never sent with a request. That is a deliberate choice: remembering that you said no should not itself require tracking you.

That is the complete list. There are no advertising cookies, no marketing or remarketing tags, no social media buttons, no embedded video players, no chat widgets, no A/B testing tools, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. The fonts and stylesheets are served from our own storage rather than a third-party CDN, so loading a page contacts nobody but us.
What happens when you accept
Only then does the site load Google Analytics from googletagmanager.com and set
the two cookies above. Google acts as our analytics provider and processes the data on our
behalf. We use it to count visits and see which pages are read. We do not use it to build a
profile of you, to advertise to you, or to identify you personally, and we do not share it
with anyone else.
Changing your mind
Use the Analytics preferences control in the footer of any page. It clears your stored answer and asks again, and choosing Decline stops analytics loading from that point on.
You can also clear cookies and site data for this domain in your browser, which removes both the Google cookies and our stored preference. Because the preference is then gone, the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Browser settings that block cookies or third-party scripts work here too; nothing on this site attempts to work around them.
